In Africa, Homo erectus (The Upright Man) began to produce handaxes about 1.8m years ago, the Acheulean period (1.800.000 yrs — 150.000 relating to hand axe industries.)
To denote the new species evolving out of the Homo Sapiens under our nose, I coin the term Homo Meta (The Beyond Man), indicating the analogue to digital passage with widespread ramifications of meta-data of the information age, and the blurring of mathe-physical (another term I coin to denote the mathematical layer of phsyical reality.) boundaries of nano-technology, computational quantum intelligence, all of which began with the dexterous manipulation of flakes of stone by our ancestors.
